Anytime we are within months of a potential new product launch from Apple, rumour sites run rampant with speculation. While this can be fun, it does get tiresome after a while.
What’s interesting though is some actual real evidence of where Apple may be going with future generations of iPhone and iPad. I came across this post on Patently Apple which shows that Apple has been working on a new bezel design for future iPhone and iPads that have no home button. What’s especially interesting is that the bezel in and of itself would contain special sensors so you could use gestures to either modify volume or turn the device on or off.
I don’t have the slightest idea if this technology is ready for the next iPhone or iPad, but it’;s clear that Apple has eventual plans to get rid of most or if not all physical buttons at some point from their devices.
