Production Notes

This weblog is written and produced solely by myself, Alex Knight, in rainy Vancouver, British Columbia.

I have been fascinated with technology since I was a kid, and thus have owned and operated many computers since the 80s, including: Atari, Commodore 64, IBM, and Macintosh. Up until 2008, the Macintosh was my favourite computer — I can say with certainty that now it’s my iPhone.

Etymology of the Name

The name “Zero Distraction” comes from my belief that I’d like to think a lot of us share, which is that software should be free of distractions that impede a users ability to quickly and easily accomplish a given task.

The Rationale Behind the Weblog

The best way I can describe the topical nature of this site is: The intersection between culture and technology.

As such, I hope the mantra of this site is clear: I’m a firm believer that software needs to be designed with care, and attention must be given to even the smallest of details.

Typography and Design Information

You are currently looking at v4.8 of this weblog’s design. I’m currently using 18px Palatino as the default font. I personally love Palatino and find it’s a better replacement for Georgia on modern day high resolution displays.

Current Mac Setup

2010 17” MacBook Pro 2.53GHz i5, (paired with a 20” Apple Cinema Display) 8GB of RAM and a 120 SSD.

Disclosures

Occasionally I may post links to third-party products on the iTunes and Mac App Store. These links may contain affiliate tracking code, which provide attribution to me if you end up buying that particular app. This is essentially to help support the content and work that I write about.
